Funeral services for Billy Morris, 84, of Sulphur Springs will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 10, at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Tommy Hall officiating.
A military graveside service under the direction of the Hopkins County Military Coalition will be held at Ridgeway Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Harold Brown, James Bagwell, Harold Cheatum, Eldon Ring, Larry Landers and Sheldon Cass. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill McLarry and Carl Mac Randolph.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, March 9, at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
Billy Morris was born in Oakland on Nov. 26, 1924, the son of Lewis Ransom Morris and Ida Marable Morris.
He married Emma Jean Gordon in Hope, Ark., on Oct. 30, 1947. She preceded him in death in 2005.
Mr. Morris served in the United States Army during World War II. He was a retired welder/owner of Gordon and Morris Wrecking Yard. He was a member of Davis Street Baptist Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Kathy Hill of Richardson; one son, Johnny Morris of Sulphur Springs; one sister, Mozelle Landers, also of Sulphur Springs; two grandchildren, Sgt. Ransom Gordon Morris (U. S. Marines) and Vivian Jane Hale; and one great-granddaughter, Abby Jean Hale.
He was preceded in death by one grandson, John Allen Morris; and 11 brothers and sisters.
Memorials may be made to the Ridgeway Cemetery Association.
