Funeral services for Leola Mamie Margaret Hedrick Ridgeway, 93, of Garland, Texas, formerly of Hopkins County, will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 8, 2009, in Tapp Funeral Home Chapel with Brother George Topper officiating.
Burial will follow in Restlawn Cemetery with Mark Ivy, Keith Ivy, Ray Bryant, Andy Bryant, Volly Ivy and Billy Davis serving as pallbearers. Family and friends of the family will serve as honorary pallbearers.
No formal visitation will be held.
Mrs. Ridgeway passed away at Baylor Hospital in Dallas on March 1, 2009.
Leola Mamie Margaret Hedrick was born Jan. 10, 1916, in Winnsboro, Texas, the daughter of James Leander Hedrick and Roberta Ann Westbrook Hedrick.
She married Robert Wray Ridgeway in San Antonio, Texas, on Dec. 23, 1941. He preceded her in death.
Mrs. Ridgeway was a graduate of Sulphur Springs High School, Class of 1934. She later attended Tyler Commercial College. She was employed by Consolidated in Fort Worth, which became General Dynamics during World War II. She was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church of Sulphur Springs. After moving to Garland in 1947, until her passing, she was homemaker and a member of First United Methodist Church of Garland.
Surviving family includes her daughter, Joyce Ivy and husband James of Dike; grandchildren, Mark and Keith Ivy; great-grandchildren, Lauren, Mason, Nathan, Addison and Avery Ivy; one sister, Helen L. Marie Perkins and one granddaughter, Deanna Lynn Faucett.
Tapp Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
