Graveside services for Marjorie Jane Clement, 91, of Sulphur Springs, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 13, at Sulphur Springs City Cemetery with the Rev. Charles Moore officiating.

Honorary pallbearers will be Christopher Clement, Chip Herschler, Stephen Bonner, Tom Sellers, John Campbell, Ben Dickerson, Barry Holcomb, Jose Hernandez and Jimmie Lynn Harrison.

There will be no formal visitation.

Mrs. Clement died on Sunday, Feb. 9, 2014, at her residence.

She was born Sept. 14, 1922, in Sulphur Springs, the daughter of John G. Reynolds Sr. and Annye (Lindsey) Reynolds.

She was married to Richard Wallace Clement for 66 years. He survives.

She was a homemaker, a secretary at the county courthouse and for several lawyers, she worked for Texas DPS driver's license office and was responsible for the City Cemetery lot sales for more than 22 years. 

She was a tremendous asset to the cemetery, according to Mrs. Annada Jones.

Mrs. Clement was the very first woman to be named Citizen of the Year in 1961.

Other survivors inlcude a son, Carlise Clement and wife, Carol Ann, of Sulphur Springs; grandson Christopher Clement of Sulphur Springs; granddaughter Natalie Ann Clement of Australia; sister Annie Lou Dickerson; sister-in-law Billie Grace Reynolds; her caregivers, Margaret Harris, Lillian Childs, Ester Vaughn, Pat Morgan and Billie Duvall; and many close friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like for donations to be made to the Sulphur Springs City Cemetery, P.O. Box 651, Sulphur Springs, Texas 75482, or the Cancer Society at www.cancer.org, or to Legacy Hospice, The Hope Foundation, 120 E. South Town Drive, Suite 200, Tyler, Texas 75703.
