Robert Veldon ‘R.V.’ Price

A funeral service for Robert Veldon “R.V.” Price, 90, of Sulphur Springs will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4, at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Steve Calavan and the Rev. Kyle Ray officiating.

A military graveside service, under the direction of the Hopkins County Military Coalition, will follow at Gafford Chapel Cemetery. Todd Williams Jr., Taylor Cross, Kyle Nichols, Antwone Young, Lonny Taylor and Jason Head will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren and Louis Lufkin and Buzzy Ivey.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3, at the funeral home.

Mr. Price died Monday morning, Dec. 2, 2013, at his residence.

Robert Veldon “R.V.” Price was born in the Bonanza community April 12, 1923, the son of Robert Price and Frankie (Mabe) Price.

He married Margie Collins. She preceded him in death in 2001.

Mr. Price was a retired AMPI truck driver and was of the Methodist faith.

He served in the United States Army during World War II. He fought in France, Belgium, Holland and Germany. He was awarded several battle stars. He also was stationed in Iceland, Scotland and Ireland.

Survivors include two daughters, Mary Robinson and Opal Price; two sisters, Etta Mae Willey and Virginia Neal, all of Sulphur Springs; grandchildren Mark Robinson, Jarrod Friddle and Joel Friddle; and great-grandchildren Mason and Jackson Friddle, Braden and Allison Katchinska, Blake and Tiffany Robinson, Ashley Alexander and Shea Robinson.

He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Opal Lynch and Betty Price.

Arrangements are under the direction of Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
