Gary Darrow a/k/a ‘Grumpy’

A military graveside service for Gary Reeves Darrow, a/k/a “Grumpy,” under the direction of the Hopkins County Military Coalition, will be conducted at Miller Grove Cemetery at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2013, with Edggie Clements officiating. No formal visitation is scheduled.


Gary Reeves Darrow, a/k/a “Grumpy”, was born March 21, 1941, in Miller Grove, Texas, to Boyd and Eula Mae Grayson Darrow. He went home to our Lord Dec. 1, 2013, from Carriage House Manor. He was of the Methodist faith.

His family moved to Dallas when he was young and Gary returned to Miller Grove Community in 1990 to take care of his ailing parents.

He served in the U. S. Navy from 1958-1962, where he began his welding career and was honorably discharged. He married Eileen Duke Nov. 16, 1963, in Durant, Okla.

He is preceded in death by his parents and one grandson, Sean Alan Hood in 2007. 

He is survived by his caretaker and ex-wife, Eileen Darrow; two children, Shannon Darrow Clements and her husband, Edggie, of Brashear, Texas, and Gary “Keith” Darrow and his wife, Kimberly, of Forney, Texas; one sister, Margaret Darrow Cain and husband, Ernest, of Emory, Texas; four grandchildren, Brandy Hood Anderson of Mesquite, Texas, Brandon Keith Darrow and Gary Ryan Darrow of Forney, Texas, and Ashley Ann Clements of Sulphur Springs, Texas; three great-grandchildren, Kason Anderson, Bella Anderson and Mason Clements; two nephews, Michael Cain of Plano, Texas, and Jamey Cain of Colorado; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

Arrangements are under the direction of Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
