Corbett Cecil Holbrooks, age 79, of Quitman, passed away in the late evening hours of Thursday, Nov. 28, 2013, at the Hospice of East Texas in Tyler.

Cecil was born Nov. 15, 1934, in Springtown, Texas, to Corb and Ruth Prince Holbrooks; they preceded him in death.

After high school, Cecil attended Weatherford College. In 1958, he married his best friend and lifetime companion, Carol Ann Brewer. Together, they raised a family and lived a lifetime of memories that will live on in the hearts of those he knew and loved.

Cecil will be most remembered as a working man. He worked for AMPI for 35 years where he designed, built and repaired equipment for the dairy business. Cecil enjoyed hauling hay, plowing his fields and owning and operating his own dairy; but if asked, Cecil was most proud of being a parent and husband. Cecil and Carol never missed taking their boys from town to town showing their Jersey heifers, playing in football games or just being a Dad to his boys.  Cecil showed what it was to be a man, a husband and a father and leaves behind a legacy of hard work, love and devotion.

Cecil is survived by his wife of 55 years, Carol; four sons, R. L. Holbrooks of Longview, Chris Holbrooks of Lake Charles, La., Eric Holbrooks and wife, Susan, of Azle and Bradley Holbrooks and wife, Misty, of Springtown; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Gale Holbrooks of Benbrook, Texas, and Orville Ray Holbrooks of New Mexico.

Arrangements are under the direction of Lloyd James Funeral Home in Tyler.
