Marilyn Joyce ‘Micey’ Evans

Funeral services for Marilyn Joyce “Micey” Evans, 61, of Sulphur Springs will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23, at Morning Chapel Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Troy Young officiating.

Interment will follow at East Caney Cemetery with Corey Miles, Reggie Thomas, Tyrone Ivery, Christopher Ivery, Fred Harris, Mike Porter, Melvin Syrie and LaTerance Evans serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Colton Evans, Kevin M. Evans, Jeffery Evans, DaQualin Evans, DaKeiston Johnson, DaMiyon Dugan, Allan Hall, Keylon Hall, Rashad Hall and Bryan Vaughn.

Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 22, at West Oaks Funeral Home.

Marilyn Evans died Nov. 16, 2013, in Sulphur Springs.

She was born on Nov. 22, 1951, to Lena Faye Hall and Harvey D. Evans.

She was of the Baptist faith. 

She was of the graduating class of 1970 at Sulphur Springs ISD.

She worked for many years at Hopkins County Memorial Hospital and at local nursing homes in Sulphur Springs in environmental services.

Survivors include two daughters, Tyra Evans and LaTonya Dugan and husband, Damon,  of Sulphur Springs; three sons, Larry J. Evans and wife, NaKesha, of Sulphur Springs, Kevin L. Evans and wife, Afra, of Dallas, and Brian Evans and wife, Ashanta, of Dallas; one sister, Francine Hall of Sulphur Springs; brothers Jimmy Evans and wife, Jeanetta, of Quitman, Richard E. Hall and Donald Hall of Sulphur Springs and Rodney Hall and wife, Regina, of Sulphur Springs; 15 grandchildren, Jeffery, Markeisha, DaKeiston, Taja, Colton, Kevin M., Asya and DaQualin Evans, RaKea Harris, DaMiyon and DaMia Dugan, Taylor, Embryea and Dominique Harrison and Kourtlynn Hudgens of Dallas; and great-grandchildren Kylee and Kennedi Smith, Bentley Cabell, Quinesha and DaKaylan Johnson.

She was preceded in death by three sisters, Brenda, Wanda and Patricia; and two brothers, Ray Charles “Chip” Evans and Jerry Sims.
