Wanda Jean ‘Jeannie’ Stearns

Funeral services for Wanda Jean “Jeannie” Stearns, 79, of Dike will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 10, at West Oaks Funeral Home with Pastor Ron Robinson officiating and Pastor Ron Smedley and Pastor C.J. Duffey assisting.

Interment will follow at Connor Cemetery with Billy Liggett, Kris Coppedge, Cody Elliott, Kevin Liggett, Mark Coppedge, and Patrick Matthews serving as pallbearers.

Mrs. Stearns died Thursday, Nov. 7, 2013, at her residence.

Jeannie Stearns was born on Nov. 14, 1933, in Grand Prairie, to Elmo and Jessie Frances Smith McLendon.

She married Charles E. Stearns on June 17, 1951, in Irving. He survives.

Mrs. Stearns was a member of Community Bible Fellowship in Dike. She worked as a secretary in Dallas for 10 years, for St. Paul Hospital in Dallas, for Red Apple Hair Cuttery for 15 years, Hopkins County Memorial Hospital and Carriage House Manor.

Other survivors include her daughters, Pam Elliott and husband, Mike, Patty Jones and Paula Matthews and husband, Pat, all of Dike; grandchildren Billy Liggett of Sanford, N.C., Jeannie Liggett of Philadelphia, Pa., Kris Coppedge of Como, Cody Elliott of Sulphur Springs, Kevin Liggett of Sulphur Springs, Mark Coppedge of Dike and Patrick Matthews of Sulphur Springs; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Charles, Bobby and Billy McLendon.

Memorials may be made to the Hopkins County Veterans Memorial.

Arrangements are under the direction of West Oaks Funeral Home.
