Paul G. Carr
A funeral service for Paul G. Carr, 86, of Arlington, formerly of Winnsboro and Mount Vernon, will be held at 10 a.m. Sept. 11, at Pine Street Baptist Church in Winnsboro with Bro. Charles Ethridge and Bro. Kenneth Goodson officiating.
Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemtery in Hopkins County with Brad Carr, Shane George, Dustin Carr, Kasey Long, Brantin Carr and Paul David "DJ" Carr Jr. serving as pallbearers. Master Masons of Texas will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10, at Beaty Funeral Home in Winnsboro.
Mr. Carr died Sunday, Sept. 8, 2013, at Texas Masonic Retirement Center in Arlington.
Paul G. Carr was born in Commerce, on April 3, 1927, to the late Earl Walter and Reginald Marie McDowell Carr.
He married the former Wanda Fuller in Mount Vernon on June 2, 1946. She survives.
Mr. Carr served in the United States Merchant Marines during World War II.
He was a retired dairyman and a member of Pine Street Baptist Church in Winnsboro. He was a 32nd degree Master Mason, a Shriner, a member of the Gus Garrison Masonic Lodge in Winnsboro and numerous other lodges during his 65 years as a Mason.
Other survivors include his sons, Paul David Carr and wife, Charlene, of Pickton, Deryl Wayne Carr of Mount Vernon and Donald Earl Carr of Mount Vernon; two daughters, Elaine Abston of Mesquite and Rita Long and husband, Kevin, of Mount Vernon; a brother, Gerald Carr and wife, Patsy, of Flint; a sister, Mary C. Oakley of Vienna, Va.; 17 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Elwyn Carr; and a daughter-in-law, Barbra Carr.
