A funeral service for Jay Paul Gordon, 36, of Sulphur Springs will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 6, at Mitchell Chapel C.O.G.I.C. with Supt. Nelson Gatlin officiating.
Burial will follow at Mel Haven Cemetery with Michael Edwards, Aundre Glenn Sr., Brian Kelly, T.C. Abron, Corey Spigner, Kwaesi Palmer, Damione Lewis and Chad Pegues serving as pallbearers.
There will be no formal visitation, however, Mr. Gordon will lie in state Thursday from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. at Mason & Mason Mortuary.
Mr. Gordon died Thursday, Aug. 29, 2013, in Belton.
Jay Paul Gordon was born on Oct. 26, 1976, in Sulphur Springs, the son of Jimmie and Sue Henley Gordon. They survive.
He graduated Sulphur Springs High School in 1995 and later attended the University of Miami. Mr. Gordon, in partnership with his father, worked in the lawn service business. He was a member of Lord's Way C.O.G.I.C.
Other survivors include one son, Jacovy Paul Gordon; one brother, Jimmie Joe Gordon Jr.; and four sisters, Venda Wright, Venita Gordon, Judy Sharp and Lisa Gordon.
Services are under direction of Mason & Mason Mortuary.
