Nell Dodd Hooten
Funeral services for Nell Dodd Hooten, 78, of Sulphur Springs will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 16, at West Oaks Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Greg Cooper officiating.
Interment will follow at Mahoney Cemetery with Rick Stewart, Nathan Reneau, James Jordan, Cleveland Hooten, Shorty Coleman and Dale Owens serving as pallbearers.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 15, the funeral home.
Mrs. Hooten died Monday, Aug. 12, 2013, at her residence.
Mrs. Hooten was born on Nov. 5, 1934, in the Mahoney Community, the daughter of Oliver C and Helen E. (Holmes) Dodd.
She married Delbert Hooten on April 8, 1954, in Sulphur Springs. He preceded her in death on July 19, 2002.
Mrs. Hooten worked in the records department at Alliance Bank. Prior to working at the bank, she was employed by Sears and Montgomery Ward. She was a member of First Assembly of God.
Mrs. Hooten is survived by sons, Joe “Willie” Hooten and wife, Lisa, of Sulphur Springs, Gerald Hooten and wife, Toni, of Fulton, Mo.; daughter Kathy Wilks and husband, Billy, of Sulphur Springs; brothers Joe Dodd and wife, Barbara, of Irving, and Jimmy Dodd and wife, Vanera, of Sulphur Springs; sisters Pat Clark and husband, Eugene, of Sulphur Springs and Wanda Hoskins and husband, John, of Arlington; sister-in-law Helen Dodd of Lone Oak; grandchildren Cody Hooten and wife, Chanda, of Arkadelphia, Ark., Gina Giguere and husband, Bryan, of Winnsboro, Jennifer Anders of Mount Pleasant, Shawn Large of Winona, Bridget Wilson of Tucson, Ariz., and Lisa Darlin and husband, Pete, of Sulphur Springs; great-grandchildren, Clint Payne, Colt Hooten, Huston Hooten, Hayden Hooten, Baylie Large and Cayden Large.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother Kenneth Dodd; and grandson Jimmy Hooten.
