A funeral service for Vessie Mae Thomas, 64, of Sulphur Springs will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 4, at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Willis Taylor officiating.

Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery with Oscar Thomas, Aubrey Smith, Damon Nash, Sam Wright, Jimmy Davis, Buster Davis, David Hearne and Alva Adams serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Laurence Green, Tony Thomas, Oscar Thomas, Johnny Thomas, Randal Fountain, Sam Fountain, Tyrone Fountain and Carl Thomas Jr.

There will be no formal visitation.

Mrs. Thomas died Thursday, April 25, 2013, at Hopkins County Memorial Hospital.

She was born Sept. 10, 1948, in Mount Vernon, the daughter of Eugene and Allie Mae Hargraves Fountain. They preceded her in death.

She married Lester Carl Thomas. He survives.

Mrs. Thomas retired from housekeeping at Sulphur Springs Health and Rehab. She was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.

Other survivors include one daughter, Carlina Green and husband, Laurence, of Sulphur Springs; one son, Carl Thomas Jr. of Sulphur Springs; one granddaughter, Takerriya Thomas of Sulphur Springs; seven sisters, Billie Ruth Fountain, Faye Dunlap, Katie Fountain, Mamie Doss and Helen Bell, all of Mount Vernon, Rozetta Deloney and husband, Andrew, of Sulphur Springs, and Ethlyn Robinson of Texarkana, Texas.; four brothers, T.C. Fountain and wife, Lynn, and Paul Fountain of Dallas, Marvin Dunlap and L.G. Fountain and wife, Bertha, of Mount Vernon.

Mrs. Thomas was also preceded in death by one daughter, Tammy Thomas.

Arrangements are under the direction of Mason and Mason Mortuary.
