Graveside services for Ralph Thurman Middleton, 86, of Emory will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 20, at Dougherty Cemetery with full military honors by the Hopkins County Military Coalition. The Rev. Wayne Brashear will be officiating.
There will be no formal visitation.
Mr. Middleton died Wednesday, April 17, 2013, at Sulphur Springs Health and Rehab.
Mr. Middleton was born May 31, 1926, in Emory, the son of Ernest Zelmer and Mary Emma (Crandford) Middleton.
He married Melba Holland on July 27, 1968, in Rockwall. She preceded him in death Feb. 10, 2003.
Mr. Middleton worked for Rains County and was commissioner of Precinct 3 for 12 years.
Mr. Middleton served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He is survived by his children, Charles Middleton and wife, Loretta, of Cedar Hill, Shirley Ann McCurdy of Forney, Sharon Kay Tucker of Balch Springs, Ginger Holland and husband, Mike, of Arlington and Bill Stanish of Dallas; sisters Edna Middleton of Dallas, Fay Hooten of Atlanta, Zelma Turner and husband, Jerry, of Colorado, Belma Middleton of Dallas, Ruth Middleton of Emory and Patsy Yates of Miller Grove; grandchildren Doug and Shawn Middleton, Tina Lowery, Ronnie McCurdy, Christi Gregory and Chase Tucker; and great-grandchildren, Kaylyn Middleton, Bethany and Jonathan Sorey.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; brothers Ray Middleton and James Henry Middleton; and sister, Velma Middleton.
