A funeral service for Dewey Dewayne Mead, 70, of Quitman will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 20, at Winterfield Baptist Church with Bro. Fred Morrow and Bro. Jack Culpepper officiating.
Burial will follow in Winterfield Cemetery with Jeff Brumley, Leon Gunn, Don Brumley, Bryan McCreight, Ray Grimes and Steve Stinson serving as pallbearers.
Vistiation will be held at from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Winterfield Baptist Church.
Mr. Mead died Wednesday morning, April 17, 2013, at his home.
Dewayne was born in Pickton on Sept. 13, 1942, to the late Cecil and Maud Brumley Mead.
He wed the former Betty Harris in Hopkins County on May 26, 1967. She survives.
He worked as an industrial machinist for USI Packaging in Tyler, was a veteran of the U.S. Army, was a mason with the Flora Lodge in Quitman, and was a member of the Winterfield Baptist Church in Pickton.
Other survivors include one son, Randal Mead of Quitman; one daughter, Delaine Jackson of Forney; one brother, Gene Mead of Red Oak; and four grandchildren, Colton Mead, Peyton Mead, Nikky Jackson and Ryan Jackson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Lawrence and Pat Mead.
