Services for Marjorie Bailey, 93, of Milano are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 8, 2013, in the Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale. Burial will follow in the Milano Cemetery in Milano. Dr. Joe W. Bailey, Jr. and Dr. Gregory Nichols will officiate. Visitation: 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Sunday, April 7, 2013, at the funeral home.

Marjorie Bailey was born July 26, 1919, in Milano to Joel and Louella (Newton) Elam. She was valedictorian of Milano High School, class of 1936. She then graduated from Baylor University with her B.A. in 1939. On June 3, 1940, she and Dr. Joe Weldon Bailey, Sr. were married in Milano, and to this union four children were born. Marjorie was a public school teacher for twenty plus years. She began and ended her career in the Milano School District. Marjorie was a member of Liberty Community Church, Milam County Retired Teachers Association and Beta Nu. She served with Mission Service Corps at the Southern Baptist Convention, and was chosen as an Outstanding Elementary Teacher 1973, and Baylor Central Texas Distinguished Woman of the Year, 1996. She was named an Honorary Alumni of Truett Seminary and served alongside her husband at First Baptist Churches in Vivian, Louisiana, Sulphur Springs and Calvert, Texas, East Grand Baptist in Dallas, Columbus Ave. in Waco and Liberty Community Church near Milano.

Mrs. Bailey went Home to be with the Lord Thursday evening, April 4, 2013, in the same home she was reared. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Joe Weldon Bailey, Sr. on April 9, 2003, grandson, Caleb Morgan, and her parents.

Surviving are sons: Roger Bailey and wife, Donna, of Driftwood and Dr. Joe W. Bailey, Jr. and wife, Angela, of Woodway; daughters; Lou Beth Birdwell and husband, Cash, of Garland and Mary Jane Morgan and husband, Bud, of Waco; 5 grandchildren, Lauren Lucente and husband, John, of Orlando, Florida, Anthony Rogers of New Braunfels, Russ Birdwell and wife, Michelle, of Lewisville, Jennifer Franz and husband, Tim, of Wylie and Hannah Morgan of San Marcos; 10 great-grandchildren: Taylor, Ashley, Matt, Jacob, Nicholas, Kalee, Easton, Mallory, Madison, Ethan.
