Margaret Jo Smith Mills, a native of Sulphur Springs, died February 28 in Mission, Texas.
Mrs. Mills was born July 30, 1924, in Liberty Community, Hopkins County, Texas.
She was the youngest child of Edith and Joe Smith.
She graduated from Sulphur Springs High in 1941 and East Texas Teachers College in 1945.
After World War II, she worked in the office of Attorney General Grover Sellers in Austin where she met her future husband, C.Y. Mills. They married in 1948 and soon moved to Mission in the Rio Grande Valley.
She is survied by her children Mike (Kathy) Mills, Mark (Jan) Mills and Melinda (Ron) Springer; numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by all of her siblings and their spouses Ewell (Opal) Smith, Edna (Don) Johnson, Howard (Charles) Smith and Fay (Ed) Gilley.
Her funeral was held in Mission on March 4.
