A funeral service for Billy Edd Harper, 73, of Sulphur Springs will be conducted  at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 7, at Morning Chapel Baptist Church with the Rev. Harold Nash officiating.


Interment will follow at Sandifer Cemetery with members of the Morning Chapel Baptist Church Male Chorus serving as pallbearers. Dwight Sims, Dan Sims, Patrick Sims, Robert Cooper, David Cooper, Randy Cooper, Tony Cooper, Patrick Hall, Calvin Hall, Dwayne Hall and Jason Hall will be honorary pallbearers.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 6, at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.

Mr. Harper died Friday afternoon, March 1, 2013, at Sunny Springs Nursing Home.

Billy Edd Harper was born in the Sandfield community in Wood County on Dec. 12, 1939, the son of Curley Harper and Fannie Mae (Ford) Harper.

Mr. Harper was a retired self-employed mechanic and a member of Morning Chapel Baptist Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Angela Wyvette Harper of Arlington and Edith Annette Hawkins and husband, Rodney, of Irving; his stepmother, Geraldine Harper of Sulphur Springs; two sisters, Katie Milburn of Richardson and Dorothy Hall of Lancaster; and one grandchild, Joshua Renard Hawkins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and four sisters, Opal Sims, Mirada Williams, Arthur Lean Cooper and Lillian (Ruth) Truitt.
