La Cleda was born on July 12, 1929, in Dallas.
She married Ted R. Nicholas, who preceded her in death.
They had four children; Rene’e K. Nicholas-AshBrook, LaRae Y. Sprinkel, Ted A. Nicholas & Richard R. Nicholas, all who survive their Mother. While married to Mr. Nicholas they lived in California as well as Texas and continued to be active in the church. They did their fair share of traveling, which was a passion of hers. She spent these years as a homemaker and raising her family.
La Cleda spent many years selling insurance and made many friends along the way.
She then married Mr. Jack S. Godfrey, who also precedes her in death. La Cleda is also survived by two step-children, Pamela Haws and Russell Godfrey.
When she married Mr. Godfrey, they moved to East Texas where they were very active with friends and family. They were both semi-retired and spent a lot of their time traveling both in and out of the U.S.
They were both members of The Winnsboro Church of Christ. While there, La Cleda spent seven years working with other women in the Church on the “Stuffed Animal Project,” taking handmade stuffed animals to local and widespread emergency rooms for little children upon admission.
She is survived by 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
At her request, there was no service.
