Funeral services for Marty Russell Mannon, age 41, of Sulphur Springs will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, January  29, 2009 at West Oaks Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Mark Harmon and Rev James Edge officiating.  Burial will follow in Sulphur Springs with Clint Debord, Ray Miller, Darren Watson, Tommy Smith, Mike Ross, Brad Daughtery, Gerald Killiam and Jimmy Chester serving as pallbearers.  Honorary pallbearers will be Randy West, Chuck Hensley, David Barnes, Dr. Don O’Neal, Joey Cooper, Hopkins County Memorial Hospital EMS, Heavens Nest Sunday School Class, the Sulphur Springs Fire Department, and the staff of Sulphur Springs Health and Rehab. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 28, 2009 at West Oaks Funeral Home. 

Marty passed away Monday, January 26, 2009 at his residence. Marty was born on October 27, 1967 in Sulphur Springs the son of Russell and Lou McCracken Mannon. He married Laura Hickman on February 14, 1999 in Sulphur Springs.  She survives. Marty was a medical nurse for Sulphur Springs Health & Rehab for the last 5 years and prior to that he worked for Birchwood Manor in Cooper, Texas and Hopkins County Memorial Hospital.  Marty played baseball in high school and was voted MVP his senior year in 1986.  He loved sports of any kind and he enjoyed working out and enjoyed his three dogs, Gussie Lou, Blackey Boy and Lilly Belle.  He loved his grandbabies and was a great son, husband, father and brother and will be missed by all who knew him. He was a member of Lake Highlands Baptist Church.

Other survivors include his mother, Lou Mannon, daughters, Jessica Williams and husband Jonathan of Tulsa, OK, and Minta Mannon Barnes of Sulphur Springs, one brother, Walt Mannon and wife Cindy of Sulphur Springs, four grandchildren, Levi Barnes, Jocelyn Williams, Tegan Williams and Nevaeh Wilkerson along with numerous nephews and nieces and cousins.  He was preceded in death by his father Russell Mannon.  Memorials may be made to Lake Highlands Baptist Church,  P O Box 441, Sulphur Springs, TX, 75483.
