Funeral services for Helen Julia Weir, 90, of Sulphur Springs will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 18, at Tira Methodist Church with the Rev. Leroy Reeves, the Rev. C.J. Duffey and the Rev. Ed Dodd officiating.
Interment will follow in Tira Cemetery with Robert Dodd, Brad Dodd, Danny Moss, Michael McNiel, Lee Moore and Micheal Waggoner serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Dustin Weir, Joe Vicars, Trenton Dodd and Dakota Weir.
A visitation will be held from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m Monday, Dec. 17, at Tapp Funeral Home.
Mrs. Weir died Saturday, Dec. 15, 2012, at her residence.
Helen Julia Weir was born on Dec. 31, 1921, in Flushing, N.Y., the daughter of Oscar and Ellen (Puckhaber) Olsen. She was raised by Perry and Modena Flippin of the Nelta Community.
She married Robert Herman Weir Sr. in Mount Vernon on Oct. 10, 1941. He preceded her in death in 1993.
She was a nurses aide and a homemaker.
Survivors include three daughters, Jane Rose Prahl and husband, Von, of Daingerfield, Joyce N. Dodd and husband, William, of Sulphur Springs and Mary Helen Atwood and husband, Dennis, of Sulphur Springs; a son, Robert Herman Weir Jr. and wife, Yvonne, of Sulphur Springs; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by brothers Billy Flippin, Welch Flippin, Herbert Olsen and Bill Puckhaber; and sisters Anna Saunders and Ruth Ward Larson.
