Funeral servicea for Dovie Garrett, 80, of Sulphur Springs, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 3, at West Oaks Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Steve Cook officiating.
Interment will follow at Shooks Chapel Cemetery with Jimmy Winfield, Ron McCuine, Red Layne, Terry Rowe, Travis Ashley and George Andrew serving as pallbearers.
Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Garrett died on Friday, Nov. 30, 2012, at Carriage House Manor.
Mrs. Garrett was born on Sept. 6, 1932, in Lamar County, the daughter of James William and Otis (Phillips) Boyer.
She married Troy Garrett on April 4, 2004. He survives.
Mrs. Garrett was a homemaker and a member of Shooks Chapel Methodist Church.
Other survivors include a daughter, Joyce Connaughton and husband, Larry, of Sulphur Springs; grandchildren Greg Connaughton and wife, Becky, of Emory and Kevin Connaughton and wife, Melissa, of Arizona; great-grandchildren Nicholas and Ryan Connaughton of Arizona, Kayla Roth of Paris, Brittney Pitre and husband, Brandon, of Emory, Nichole Connaughton and fiancée, Seth Green, of Emory and Kyle Evans of Emory; sisters, Gladys Brownlee of Pickton and Darlene McCollum and husband, M. D., of Pittsburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Glenn Boyer and Clyde Boyer; and one sister, Bonnie Bryan.
