Cremation arrangements for William Bennett, 80, of Sulphur Springs, who died Thursday morning, Feb. 5, at Sunny Springs Nursing Home, are under the direction of Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.


Mr. Bennett was born in Fresno, Calif., on Aug. 2, 1928, the son of Ralph and Mary Chernikoff Bennett.

He married Dorothy Parkins in Fresno, Calif. in 1973. She preceded him in death.

Mr. Bennett was a retired truck driver. He served in the Merchant Marines during World War II. 

Survivors include two sons, Mark Bennett and wife, Tara, of Sulphur Springs and Randy Bennett of Ceres, Calif.; four stepsons, Rusty Means and Victor Means, both of Reedley, Calif., Rodney Means of Fresno, Calif., and Doug Means of Tehachapi, Calif.; three stepdaughters, Pam Means, Debbie Corgiat and Robin Means, all of Fresno, Calif.; two brothers, Larry Bennett and Stan Bennett, both of Fresno, Calif.; two grandchildren, Austin Bennett and Jordin Sharp; and several step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; a stepson, Roger Means; and a stepdaughter, Lisa Barker.
