Graveside services for Harry Wilson Smith, 83, of Sulphur Springs will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 12, at Sulphur Springs City
Cemetery with the Rev. Tommy Hall and the Rev. Andy Comer officiating.
Visitation will be from 8:30 a.m. until 9:30 a.m., prior to service time, at West Oaks Funeral Home.
Mr. Smith died Saturday, Sept. 8, 2012, after an extended illness.
He was born on March 16, 1929, in Laurel, Jones Co., Mississippi, the son of John Wesley and Mary Richard Smith.
He married Margie Mozelle Patton on Sept. 4, 1954. She survives.
Harry was retired from Xerox Corp in Dallas and E-Systems in Greenville as a Quality Control Inspector.
He graduated from East Texas State University in Commerce.
He was a member of Davis Street Baptist Church and served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War.
Other survivors include a sister, Jessie Ruth Reed of Columbia, SC; one brother, William Haskel Smith of Laurel, Miss.; and a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Marie Davis; and four brothers, Herman, Grover, John W. and Solly.
The family wants to thank the ICU staff and the third floor nursing staff of Hopkins County Memorial Hospital, the Hospice at Memorial staff and especially Arvis Tanton and the wonderful staff of Carriage House Manor.
