A military graveside service, under the direction of the Hopkins County Military Coalition, will be held for Bobby C. Lawson, 87, of Sulphur Springs at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 30, 2012, at Rockdale Cemetery.
Mr. Lawson’s great-grandsons will be serving as pallbearers.
No formal visitation is scheduled.
Bobby C. Lawson passed away Monday evening, Aug. 27, 2012, at Greenville Health & Rehab.
He was born in Hopkins County on Oct. 16, 1924, the son of Clark William Lawson and Alma (Crum) Lawson.
He married Mildred Owens in Hopkins County on Sept. 11, 1944. She survives.
Mr. Lawson was a barber. He was a member of Davis Street Baptist Church. He served in the United States Army during World War II.
Other survivors include one sister, Betty Lawson of Tira; two grandchildren, David Lawson and wife, Angie, and Karen Polk and husband, Kilan; and his great-grandchildren, Kyle Polk, Kody Polk, Faustin Lawson, Hayley Lawson, Dustin Lawson, Denton Lawson, Brent Rutledge and Tristyn Rutledge.
He was preceded in death by one son, David Clark Lawson; three brothers, Loyal Lawson, Floyd Lawson and Paul Lawson; and two sisters, Ruby (Petty) Gray and Dorothy Lawson Coker.
