Funeral services for William Henry Plemons, 87, of Sulphur Springs were conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug.
13, at West Oaks Funeral Home with president Jeff Smith officiating.
Military graveside honors by the Hopkins County Military Coalition followed at Winterfield Cemetery in Pickton, with his grandsons serving as pallbearers.
Mr. Plemons died Saturday, Aug. 11, 2012, at Hopkins County Memorial Hospital.
William Henry Plemons was born on Dec. 9, 1924, in Quitman, the son of Elmer James and Willie Mae (Conell) Plemons.
He married Tommie Grace Hart on March 10, 1946, in Quitman. She survives.
Mr. Plemons worked for Ford Motor Company for 30 years. He served in the United States Army during World War II and was a prisoner of war. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Other survivors include one son, Richard Plemons of Pickton; one daughter, Victoria Beckham and husband, David, of Santaquin, Utah; nine grandchildren, Mikki Flanigan, Katherine Burns and husband, Barry, Jennifer Forthman and husband, Paul, Jonathan Beckham and wife, Vanessa Wages, John Plemons and wife, Erin, Suzanne McDowell and husband, Eric, Matthew Beckham and wife, Lanie, Brent Plemons and wife, Jill, and Adam Beckham and wife, Allison; 27 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Albert Plemons.
