Funeral services for C. E. Fite, 92, of Yantis will be conducted at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 7, with the Rev. Donald Vaughn officiating.
A military graveside service, under the direction of the Hopkins County Military Coalition, will follow at Yantis Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be David Auringer, Don Hurley, Jeremy Hurley, Robert DeWitt, Chanse Fite and Cody Fite.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday Aug. 6, at the funeral home.
C. E. Fite died Saturday morning, Aug. 4, 2012, at East Texas Medical Center in Tyler.
He was born in Saltillo on Nov. 27, 1919, the son of Jim Fite and Sadie (Lutrell) Fite.
He married Oma King in Yantis on Aug. 9, 1939. She preceded him in death in 2006.
He was a retired builder, and he was of the Baptist faith. He served in the United States Navy during World War II.
Survivors include two daughters, Jamie Herring and husband, Tobie, of Quitman and Vivian Word of Grand Prairie; a son, Mike Fite and wife, Valaree, of Beach City; two sisters, Doris Jenkins and Mary Jo Peek, both of Sulphur Springs; grandchildren Shari Hurley, Shelly Auringer, Kimberly Mapes, Chanse Fite and Kassey DeWitt; 10 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by one infant son, one granddaughter, one great-granddaughter, one sister and three brothers.
