A military graveside service for Vernon Elledge, 85, of Pickton, will be conducted at Winterfield Cemetery at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 19, under the direction of the Hopkins County Military Coalition, with C. J. Duffey officiating.
There will be no formal visitation.
Mr. Elledge passed away Tuesday afternoon, July 17, 2012, at Sulphur Springs Health and Rehabilitation.
He was born in Pickton on Nov. 21, 1926, the son of Sid Elledge and Salina (Miller) Elledge.
He married Dorothy Richmond in Sulphur Springs in 1947. She preceded him in death in 1993. He married Lovis Edwards; she preceded him in death in 2009.
He was a machinist and a gardener. He served in the Army during World War II.
Survivors include two sons, Vernon Elledge and Sid Elledge, both of Pickton; one stepson, Clay Edwards, and one stepdaughter, Lana McQueen, both of Sulphur Springs; and two step-grandchildren, Eli McQueen and Emily McQueen.
He was preceded in death by his two brothers and two sisters.
