Funeral services for John Alan Smith, 52, of Sulphur Springs will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 6, at Tapp Funeral Home.

Interment will follow in North Hopkins Cemetery with Mark Conley, Randy Conley, Roger Claxton, Billy Johnson, John Mays and Tom Trull serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will include Charlie Phillip and Robert Wayne Milton.

Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 5, at Tapp Funeral Home.

John Smith died Sunday, June 3, 2012, at Hopkins County Memorial Hospital.

He was born in Paris, Texas, on Aug. 15, 1959, the son of John Arthur Smith and Carol Rattan Smith.

He married Michele Conley on Aug. 14, 1982, in Bonham. She survives.

Mr. Smith was an agriculture teacher at Farmersville High School. He was affiliated with Oak Ridge Church of Christ.

Other survivors include two daughters, Shannon Smith and Jennifer Compton and husband, Colt, all of Mabank; one grandchild, Grady Compton; two brothers, Jeff Smith and Stan Smith, both of Honey Grove; three sisters, Jackie Shelton of Waxahachie, Cindy Kueckelhan of Bonham and Leasa Baxter of Honey Grove; and his parents, John and Carol Smith of Honey Grove.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Texas FFA Foundation, 614 East 12th St.. Austin, Texas 78701.
