Funeral services for Sue Maurine Curry Thornton, 77, of Wiergate will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 6, 2012, at Burkeville Baptist Church with burial to follow at Maddox Cemetery.
Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, June 5, 2012, at Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home in Jasper.
Mrs. Thornton died Sunday, June 3, 2012, at her home.
A native of Austin, she graduated from John H. Reagan High School in Houston, class of 1952. She was a member of several organizations in the Houston area. She worked at Jasper Memorial Hospital where she was medical records supervisor and played organ at Burkeville Baptist Church for many years.
Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Wayne Thornton; one son, Neal Thornton and wife, Roberta, of Liberty; one daughter, Roxanne Rich and Bob Leerskov of Sulphur Springs; one brother, Clay Curry and wife, Jimmie, of Euless: four grandsons; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Sue Curry, and one son, Zachary.
Memorials may be made to Burkeville Baptist Church Music Fund, Maddox Cemetery Association or the Jimmy V. Foundation for Cancer Research.
Services are under the direction of Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home of Jasper.
