A memorial service for Harvey Mathes, 88, of Sulphur Springs will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 28, at Spence Chapel in First Baptist Church
with Rev. Fred Lewis officiating.
Interment will follow in Restlawn Memorial Park with Mr. Mathes’ grandchildren, O. R. Pettit, Brody Koon, Wayne Galyean, Roy Smith, Ernest Teague and Delmar Richter serving as honorary pallbearers.
There will be no formal visitation.
Harvey Mathes died Sunday, Jan. 25, at Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler.
Harvey Mathes was born in Sherwood, Wis., on Aug. 22, 1920, the son of Arthur and Hannah Fierke Mathes
He married Irmhilda Koehler at St. John, Wisc., on Feb. 16, 1954. She preceded him in death in 1981.
Mr. Mathes was a retired minister and a member of First Baptist Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Ellen Cox of Pickton, Mary Gilbertson of Sulphur Springs and Lynn Jarvis of Como; four sons, Bryan Mathes, Neil Mathes and Philip Mathes, all of Sulphur Springs, and Mark Mathes of Pottsboro; 17 grandchildren, Clint Springfield, Robert Springfield, Sheila Springfield, Seanda Westbrook, Kimberly Mathes, Kacie Mathes, Kyle Mathes, Christopher McDonald, Amanda McDonald, Melissa Mathes, Sean Mathes, Ashlin Mathes, Brooklyn Mathes, Dawson Mathes, Levi Jarvis, Zechariah Jarvis and Hannah Jarvis; and two great-grandchildren, Alexandra Springfield and Jackson Springfield
He was also preceded in death by his stepmother, Viola Miller Mathes; one sister, Ruby Richter; and two grandchildren, Clint and Shane Springfield.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
