Funeral services for Bill McGlamery, age 70, of Sulphur Springs, will be conducted at 4:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 21, 2009 at West Oaks Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Henry Suche officiating and Mr. Jimmy Don Goldsmith assisting. Burial will be in Como Cemetery with Ronnie Gunn, Dana Thorpe, Daryl Watkins, Travis Wiley, Jerry Callen, Chris Follis, Harold Mays and B. C. Green serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Dale Miller, Jerry Mac Petty, Jerry Bob Caddell, C. D. Ballard and the Ballard Drivers.
Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 20, 2009 at West Oaks Funeral Home.
Mr. McGlamery passed away Sunday, January 18, 2009 at Hopkins County Memorial Hospital. He was born on January 6, 1939 in Como, the son of William Edgar and Hazel Jo Warren McGlamery. He married Judy Wright on November 19, 1965 in Como and she survives. Mr. McGlamery was in the dairy business for 27 years, owned and operated Bill’s Steak and Seafood for 19 years and currently worked for Ballard’s Trucking. He was a member of Lake Highlands Baptist Church and was one of the founding members of the Como Fire Department. He loved cooking and gardening and enjoyed puzzles. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.
Other survivors include two sons, Eddie McGlamery and wife Lorna of Albuquerque, NM and David McGlamery of Sulphur Springs, one brother, Ronnie McGlamery and wife Mary of San Angelo, TX, four grandchildren, Maci and Maggie McGlamery of Albuquerque, NM, and Shelby McGlamery of Como and Chesley McGlamery of Sulphur Springs. He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Johnny McGlamery. Arrangements are under the direction of West Oaks Funeral Home.
