Graveside services for Mary Abernathy Vance, 102, of Sulphur Bluff will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, at the Odd Fellows Cemetery in Quinlan with the Rev.
Charles Moore officiating.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 23, at Tapp Funeral Home.
Mrs. Vance died Tuesday evening, Jan. 20, at her residence in Sulphur Bluff.
Mary Abernathy was born May 5, 1906 in Quinlan the daughter of John Anthony “Tony” Abernathy and Fannie Adelia Stockton Abernathy.
She married Ralph Vance in Marietta, Okla. on April 12, 1930. He preceded her in death in 1997.
Mrs. Vance was a homemaker and a long-time member of First Methodist Church of Sulphur Bluff.
Survivors include one sister, Ruby Partin; two daughters and sons-in-law, Jane and Cam Hill, and Elaine and Rex Acker, all of Sulphur Bluff; three granddaughters, Deborah Lee, Kathy Acker and Julianna Hymer; one grandson, Chris Hill; great-granddaughters, Sarah Acker, Paige Hymer and Alison Hymer; great-great-granddaughter, Emily Everett.
Mrs. Vance was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Vernon Abernathy and Clyde Abernathy; and one sister, Ruth Abernathy Butler.
