Funeral services for Joseph “Joe” Wilkinson, 64, of Sulphur Springs will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 18, in West Oaks Funeral Home Chapel with the
Rev. Jerry Jones officiating and Jerry Putnam assisting.
Pallbearers will be Ramon Ferguson, Daryl Gentry, Jim Hopson, Kevin Mabe, Mitch Orr, Dennis Wilkinson, Carl Wilkinson and Bob Quinlan. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Bill Butler, Robert Perryman and Mr. Wilkinson’s coworkers at the Thermo Coal Mine.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 17, at the funeral home.
Mr. Wilkinson died at his residence Thursday, Jan. 14, following a long battle with cancer.
He married Sara Paulk on Aug. 1, 1964, in Trenton, Ga. She survives.
Mr. Wilkinson had worked at the coal mine in Thermo since 1980. He was also owner of Classic Floors. He was a member of the Methodist faith.
Survivors include one son, B.J Wilkinson and wife Lori; one daughter, Donna Mabe and husband Tony Mabe; five grandchildren, Jennifer Orr and husband Mitch Orr, Kevin Mabe, Keely Wilkinson, Shelbi Elkin and Ashley Huckabee; two grandchildren, Ryen and Riley Orr; two brothers, Gene and Lowe Wilkinson; and three sisters, Evelyn Coffey, Francis McCallie and Essie Stockton, all of Hopkins County.
