Laura Katharin Clifton Miller, age 96, of Sulphur Springs, TX, passed away in Whitehouse, TX on Saturday, January 3, 2009.
Mrs. Miller was born to William David and Kate Powell Clifton on September 6, 1912 in Sulphur Springs, TX. She was a graduate of Sulphur Springs High School and Williams School of Business. She was a retired Civil Service employee of the Department of Agriculture (formerly the Farmers’ Home Administration). She worked for the department 48 years, all in the Sulphur Springs office. Mrs. Miller was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Sulphur Springs, TX. Until recently, she was an active member of the Hamilton Bible Class. She was also a member of the B & P W Club and The Diamond Set.
Survivors include one nephew, Jim Clifton and wife Beth of Whitehouse, TX; two great-nieces, Catherine Gaertner and husband John, of Carthage, TX, Christina Clifton of Jacksonville, TX; and two great-great nieces, Grace Nicole and Elizabeth Ruth Gaertner of Carthage, TX. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, January 6, 2009 in the chapel of West Oaks Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Debbie Riggsby, officiating. Visitation will be held on Monday, January 5, 2009 at the funeral home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. as well as one hour prior to the funeral on Tuesday.
