Congressional committee to meet Monday in Memphis

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — A U.S. House Judiciary Committee subcommittee is holding a field briefing in Memphis Monday on "Home Foreclosures in Memphis."

The judiciary committee's subcommittee on commercial and administrative law, chaired by Rep. Steve Cohen, D-Memphis, will hear from panels of witnesses.

Topics include Memphis and Shelby County's federal lawsuit against Wells Fargo; ways to change bankruptcy law to mitigate the foreclosure crisis; and data about local foreclosures.

According to The Memphis Daily News, U.S. Bankruptcy Judges David Kennedy and Jennie Latta will talk about possible bankruptcy law changes.
