They CAN help fill the bus

Kiwanis Noon Club members donate 60 backpacks to help “fill the bus” in the CANHelp parking lot for CANHelp’s annual school supply drive Thursday. The organization’s goal was, with the help of the community, to give 500 students school supplies with the drive . Executive Director Adam Teer said the organization ended the day with a bus full of supplies and about $1,500 in donations with which they could buy more supplies. Star Country Radio spent the morning at CANHelp as well as some bullfighters from last weekend’s PBR Challenge. Meet the teacher, parent orientations at North Hopkins, Cumby

(Editor’s Note: This another article in a series detailing back-to-school activities at Hopkins County schools. The articles will run periodically over the next few days in advance of the start of school on Aug. 22.)

In order to better help students and parents prepare for the 2011-2012 school year which begins Aug. 22, many local school districts have designated special days in which students can drop off supplies, meet their teachers and new staff, become acquainted with the campus, register for class or pick up schedules.
