Dec. 2, 2011 - Investigators believe a space heater was the cause of a fire that burned a mattress and caused electrical and smoke damage to a North Davis Street home Thursday evening.



Political: Bob Deuell files for reelection to Texas Senate

Dec. 2, 2011 - Bob Deuell, MD, has filed for reelection to the Texas Senate.  Elected in 2002, Deuell, a family physician and conservative Republican, said Thursday that the state’s economy and budget are priorities and he wants to continue his service to Texas and, most importantly, to the people who live in Senate District 2.  Deuell was reelected in 2006 and 2010.


Crime: Information sought after house struck by gunfire

Dec. 2, 2011 - Sulphur Springs police investigators are asking for the public’s help in identifying the person or people responsible for firing several shots into a West Park Street residence Thursday night.


December weekends promising at Cooper Lake

December 1, 2011 - A 13-foot low lake level and cooler temperatures haven’t slowed things down at Cooper Lake State Park-South Sulphur Unit. In fact, weekends in December promise to be very active times at the park, thanks to recent rains and the miler weather.


Christmas Parade postponed due to weather

December 1, 2011 - A potential for rain this weekend has caused the Sulphur Springs Lions Club to postpone their lighted Christmas parade, originally scheduled for this Saturday, until the following Saturday, Dec. 9, according to Lions Club spokesman Josh Goodman.
