Sheriff’s officers uncover 60 stolen items; third major recovery in the last week

Hopkins County Sheriff’s officers this weekend recovered from a Quitman storage building several thousands of dollars worth of property stolen over the last 30 days from Hopkins, Wood and Rains counties, including numerous items reported stolen from the Arbala area.

C-P Advanced Academics class discusses their trip back in time


Believing is seeing, and seeing is realizing. Como-Pickton’s Advanced Academics class studied up before departing last weekend for a living history lesson in Mississippi, part of their lessons on the Civil War. Each came home with a better appreciation of the conditions during that era as well as the architectural, engineering, geographic and scientific developments of the time in Mississippi. Each had at least one favorite part, some several.

Theft investigations continue to net stolen goods

Continued investigation into thefts from a northern Hopkins County residence and building about two weeks ago resulted in recovery of an additional $7,000 worth of the stolen property as well as location of items confirmed stolen from Texarkana and Franklin County as well.
