Grand jury hands down 70 indictments this month

A Hopkins County Grand Jury this month returned more than 70 indictments against at least 40 people. The largest portion of the charges, 37, were for marijuana and controlled substance violations, with the rest ranging from theft, credit card abuse and drunk driving to more violent offenses such as sexual and aggravated assaults, assault on a peace officer and intoxication manslaughter.

One man was indicted on a whopping 18 sex charges, nine for aggravated sexual assault of a child and nine for sexual assault of a child. Richard Glenn Finnie is accused of the aggravated sexual assault of the same female child who as less than 14 years of age in July, October and December of 1996; July, August and December of 1997; and January March and June of 1998. He is also accused of the sexual assault of that same female child who was less than 17 years old in July, August and December of 1998; January, March, June, July and December of 1999; and in January of 2000.

Also indicted for aggravated sexual assault of a child was Jorge Fidel Galarza-Salazar Jr. The charge is a multi-count indictment accusing Galarza-Salaza of the aggravated sexual assault of a female child who was less than 14 years of age and indecency with the same female child by sexual contact, both on or Nov. 25, 2009.

Kareem Jarvol Person was also indicted for sexual assault of a child. He is alleged on or about Aug. 19, 2009, to have sexually assaulted a female child who was less than 17 years of age.

Indicted for online solicitation of a minor was Christopher Kenneth White. He is alleged to have used text messaging to try to meet a female minor with intent to engage in sexual intercourse with her. The offense is alleged to have occurred on or about Sept. 16, 2009.

A sexual assault indictment was issued alleging Anthony Donell Rollison forced sex on a female on Nov. 4, 2009.

Edgar Fernando Valdez was indicted for assault on a peace officer and escape. He is accused of biting Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper Bill Reese, who was attempting to arrest him, and then of escaping from the trooper on Nov. 13, 2009.

Aggravated assault charges were filed against Harold Lee Fatheree for allegedly hitting a woman with his fists, biting her then using his vehicle as a deadly weapon by driving it “away while the victim was hanging on causing the victim to hit her head on the roadway,” the indictment alleges. The offense is alleged to have occurred on Oct. 22, 2009.

Two men, Phillip Scott Edwards and James Blake Spinks, were indicted for intoxication manslaughter. Edwards is alleged on Aug. 9, 2009, to have been intoxicated while driving a vehicle which crashed, causing the death of Joshua Ray Herring, the passenger. Spinks is alleged to have been intoxicated on June 19, 2009, while driving a vehicle into Nathan Paul Spataro, who died as a result of the crash. Spinks was also indicted for accident involving injury or death in relation to the same crash; he is accused of leaving the scene of the crash without giving his name, address, registration number and insurance for the vehicle he was driving, and “without rendering reasonable assistance” to Spataro, who was in need of medical treatment.

Three men were indicted for felony driving while intoxicated charges. Kevin James Kleinman was accused of a having two prior convictions relating to the operating of a motor vehicle while intoxicated in September 2009, when he was again accused of drunk driving. Monty Derle Millsap was accused of having two prior convictions relating to operating a vehicle while intoxicated in May 2009, when he was again accused of DWI. Daniel Glenn Swann is accused in September 2009 to have been intoxicated while driving a vehicle which contained male and female passengers who were both less than 15 years old.

Jodice Oliver Macon was indicted for forgery. Macon is accused in September 2009 of passing, at a check cashing business, a check forged for $400 to another man’s account.

Holly Kristine Posada was indicted for credit or debit card abuse. She is alleged in September 2009 to have presented to Pizza Hut a credit card without the male credit card holder’s consent.

Royce Wayne Sewell was indicted for theft. He is alleged in August 2009 to have unlawfully appropriated, by acquiring or otherwise exercising control over tools, a GPS Navigation system and a fire extinguisher belonging to another man.

Erick Jerome Sims was indicted on four delivery of marijuana in a drug-free zone charges. He is alleged in June 2009 to have delivered more than one-fourth ounce but no more than five pounds of marijuana within 1,000 feet of Pacific Park, a drug-free zone; then of doing the same again two days later. He is also alleged to have delivered one-fourth ounce to five pounds of marijuana twice on the same day in September 2009 to the same person, both within 1,000 feet of Austin Elementary School, a drug-free zone.

Others indicted for delivery of marijuana included:

Susan Lee Dutton, one-fourth ounce to five pounds, September 2009

Christopher Jerome Miles, one-fourth ounce to five pounds, in August 2009, within 1,000 feet of Doodlebug Lane, a drug-free zone.

Jeremy Dewayne White, one-fourth ounce-five pounds, August 2009, within 1,000 feet of Pacific Park, a drug-free zone

James Edward Johnson,  two counts one-fourth ounce to five pounds of marijuana in July 2009 and again in August 2009.

Indicted for possession of marijuana were:

Candice Richelle Evans and Olivia Danielle Coomer, five-50 pounds, May 2009

Kevin Alan Southworth, five-50 pounds, or less, September 2009

Lafrontas Dewayne Conkleton and Casandra Denise Beamon, four ounces-five pounds, September 2009

Jason Lee Sharpton was indicted on three counts of delivery of a controlled substance. He is alleged to have delivered one-four grams of methamphetamine in March 2009, and of less than 1 gram of meth in both June and July of 2009.

Austin Vargas Meza Jr. was also indicted on two delivery of controlled substance charges. He is alleged on the same day in October 2009 to have twice delivered less than 28 grams of hydrocodone, both within 1,000 feet of Bowie Elementary School, a drug-free zone.

Also indicted for delivery of a controlled substance were:

Audrey Latres Blackmon, less than 28 grams of hydrocodone, September 2009, within 1,000 feet of Pacific Park, a drug-free zone; Blackmon was also indicted for delivery of the dangerous drug Metoprolol without a prescription in October 2009.

Courtney Monique Burley, less than 28 grams hydrocodone, July 2009; Burley was also indicted for delivery of the dangerous drug Naproxen in August 2009.

Marcus Tederyal Duffey, less than 28 grams hydrocodone, in September 2009, within 1,000 feet of Austin Elementary School, a drug-free zone

Robert William Robinson, less than 28 grams hydrocodone, July 2009

Kimberly Dawn Harris, less than 28 grams hydrocodone, September 2009, within 1,000 feet of Houston Learning Center, a drug-free zone

Christopher Rashad Goodson, less than 28 grams hydrocodone, August 2009; and less than 28 grams hydrocodone, August 2009, within 1,000 feet of Travis Elementary, a drug-free zone

Tony Dewayne Thomas, one to four grams cocaine, June 24, 2009, within 1,000 feet of Austin Elementary School, a drug-free zone; and one to four grams cocaine, June 16, 2009

Ashley Marie Hagan, less than one gram methamphetamine, June  2009; and less than one gram meth, August 2009, within 1,000 feet of Bowie Elementary, a drug-free zone

Dennis Wayne Nash, less than 28 grams hydrocodone Aug. 18,  2009; and less than 28 grams hydrocodone, Aug. 20, 2009

Bobby Dean Bissell, less than 28 grams Alprazolam, September 2009, within 1,000 feet of Sulphur Springs Middle School, a drug-free zone

Indicted for possession of a controlled substance were Jodie Michele White and Bobby Mitch Austin II. White is alleged to have had less than one gram of meth in August 2009. Austin is alleged to have had less than one gram Ketamine in August 2009.
