The Lights of Life Gala Committee is offering a chance for prospective bidders to get a jump on the competition for a “Fun Night with Jake” Pavelka, “The Bachelor” of the upcoming ABC reality show of the same name.

They can get a closer look at “The Bachelor” when Pavelka and ABC kick off the show’s new season on Monday, Jan. 4, at 7 p.m. The next morning on Tuesday, Jan. 5, between 7 a.m. and 9 a.m. on STAR County 95.5, some lucky lady, group of ladies, or couples in Hopkins County will be offered a chance to bid on the “Fun Night with Jake” that will also be offered at the gala.

The evening with Jake includes limousine service to and from Dallas for a wonderful dinner at a Dallas restaurant yet to be determined. The limo holds 10 people, so this could be a fun night out for a bunko group, a bridge group or a couple — the winner gets to decide who gets to join in the fun.

The winning bidder will receive two tickets to the Lights of Life gala, scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 16. The winner of the radio telethon bidding can continue their bidding at the gala. “Moose” at STAR Country 95.5 has graciously offered to help with the early morning bidding. Craig Roberts, chair of the 2010 Gala, will be on air to help promote the “Fun Night with Jake” and to talk about the gala.

“The gala is already sold out, and we are on target to pass our $110,000 goal,” said Jackie Thornton, director of the Hopkins County Health Care Foundation that oversees the event. “We are so excited about the generous community support we have received for this year’s gala, and we’re not sure what to expect on the bidding. I’m sure that whatever, it’s gonna be fun!”

The funds raised through the gala this year will help purchase a new digital mammography machine for the hospital.
