Police arrested a Sulphur Springs man, 22, after finding more than $1,500 worth of stolen tools and medical equipment at his Fuller Street residence Tuesday.

Shawn Edward Harvey remained in custody Wednesday morning for possession of stolen property, an offense punishable as a state jail felony.

According to police, the trail had gone cold on the BT Medical Supply case until a tip was called in Tuesday to Crime Stoppers indicating items stolen Thursday out of the two vans could possibly be located at a Fuller Street residence.

Sulphur Springs Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division went Tuesday to the house where they were greeted by Harvey. He agreed to let the investigators enter his residence.

“He immediately told us the property was there,” said Investigator Monty Tipps. “We recovered the property, and Shawn Harvey was arrested for possession of stolen property. A patrol unit transported him to jail. He has given a confession in the case. We are still looking into this case, but no others at this time have been arrested.”

The stolen tools and medical equipment which included vehicle lift chairs and other devices, were returned to the medical company.
