Studio 9 hair salon recently received a special invitation to participate in a photo shoot at the “Paul Mitchell — The School” in Carrollton.

The photo shoot was for two editions of an internationally published hairstyle book, Passion International. One set of photos was shot for a book that highlights family styles, while the other features wedding and “updo” options.

Studio 9 owner Peggy Burnham and two of her stylists, Shannon Millard and Jennifer Peeks, took local models Catherine Minnick, Meagan Sickles and Ashlyn Landers to the photo shoot in Dallas, the first stop in a five-city tour. Photographs from shoots in Chicago, Washington, Rhode Island and Jacksonville, Fla., will also be considered for the two books.

“We are really excited about the opportunity to be published in a world-wide hair book,” Burnham said. “We feel like even though the competition is tough, the photographers got some good shots of our models, and we have a solid chance to get in the books.”

Millard even got into the action.

“Shannon wears a funky hair style with a few colored extensions,” Burnham said. “She was asked to also be a model and have her picture done.”

Burnham said the hardest part is having to wait nine to 10 months “to see if our models are chosen for the books.

“We all had a really good time and are looking forward to going again next year when the books being photographed for will be on men's styles and haircolor. We will be looking for next year’s  models closer to time for the next photo shoot.”

Burnham said the salon will have copies of the books and the photos on display once they find out if their styles are published.
