Rusty Harden was approved Monday night by school trustees to serve as principal at Sulphur Springs Middle School. The personnel change was one of several made throughout the campuses of Sulphur Springs Independent School District during a regular meeting of the school board.

Brandon Nelson will replace Josue Diaz as English teacher at the high school. Kathy Bell Wright, a SSHS alumni, was hired to teach math at the middle school. Buffey Coleman will replace Jennifer Goggans, who resigned as teacher at Douglas Intermediate School.

Pamela Joiner will fill the counselor’s slot at Douglas, which came open when Sandra McAndrew moved to replace Betty Lawson, who replaced  Connie Mabe.

Mary Turnage was hired to teach a new special education class being added at Douglas Intermediate School to accommodate students moving up from the elementary campuses. Allison Smith will teach special education at Travis Elementary.

Karen McMahon will return to teach second grade at Bowie, taught this year by Lacey Ragan, who resigned.  Sherry Thompson will replace JerriBetth Jones as nurse at Lamar Elementary.
