I-30 traffic stops net 1 kilo of cocaine, 25 lbs. of marijuana

Three interstate traffic stops over the weekend netted 1 kilogram of cocaine, more than 25 pounds of marijuana and at least four felony arrests.

Trooper Joseph Hogue arrested Larry Noble Scott Jr., 37, of Memphis, Tenn., Friday morning for possession of 25 pounds of marijuana, found in two trash bags in the trunk of Scott’s car during a routine interstate traffic stop.

Trooper David Reynolds arrested Eddie Binion III, 33, and Anthony Noah Hall, 21, both of Marianna, Ark., Saturday for possession of a controlled substance. They were stopped for speeding and gave conflicting stories about their travels and exhibited indicators of criminal activity. Sulphur Springs Police Lt. Cleve Williams’ canine alerted on the vehicle, where 1 kilogram of cocaine was found in the console and a bag of marijuana in the glove box. Both were arrested.

Cumby Police Cpl. Charles Herford and Officer S. Spencer chased a pair traveling  on motorcycle at rates up to 160 mile per hour from the 110 to 72 mile marker on I-30 early Sunday morning. Jose Noel Maldonado, 28, of Carrollton was arrested for evading arrest or detention on a vehicle. A passenger was also said to have been arrested, but no information was available on the passenger Monday morning.
