Hopkins County soldier injured in Iraq

Army Sgt. John “J Bo” Dodd with the 82nd Airborne Division was wounded in Iraq Sunday, June 21, sustaining injuries to both hands and one of his legs.

Sgt. Dodd is currently recuperating in a Baghdad hospital.

According to his father, Randy Dodd of Sulphur Springs, a missile was fired from a rocket launcher by enemy insurgents into a vehicle Dodd was traveling in. The family received word on Monday that their son underwent “surgery on his hands and is in a wheelchair.”

Dodd has been in Iraq since November 2008.

He is the son of Randy and Jamie Dodd, and Tina and Dan Elmore. He is a graduated of Sulphur Bluff High School.
