Grand Jury hands down 45 indictments in April session

The Hopkins County Grand Jury during its April session approved at least 45 indictments against 36 people. Charges ranged from controlled substance offenses, trademark counterfeiting, fraud and drunk driving to endangering of a child and aggravated robbery. A handful of individuals were also charged with multiple offenses.

Indicted on two charges each for aggrated robbery were Sebastian Allen Miles Jr. and Jermaine Keith Dennis. They are alleged to have used or exhibited a handgun to a man and to a woman during the course of robberies on Nov. 25 and Nov. 26, 2008.

Two individuals were charged with aggravated assault, John David McGee for allegedly using a pipe to repeatedly strike another man during an assault in December 2008, and June Neely Horvath for allegedly stabbing a family member with an ice pick during an assault on Feb. 7.

Two men were indicted for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. Albert Wesley Burleson is alleged on Feb. 9 to have stolen another man’s automobile. Christopher Glen English is alleged to have stolen a man’s automobile on Jan. 30. English was also indicted for fraudulent use of a man’s credit card on Jan. 31.

Indicted for alleged theft of $1,500 to $20,000 from Como-Pickton Band Booster Club in April 2007 was Jed Anthony Shadix. Also indicted for theft were Sheala Rhea Barnhart and Melvin Lee Stephenson. Barnhart is accused of stealing $1,500-$20,000 cash from a man in July 2008. Stephenson is accused of stealing numerous railroad spikes from Kansas City Southern Railroad on Feb. 9

Matthew Kurt Turner and Pamela Sherri Dill were indicted for endangering a child and possession of less than one gram of a controlled substance in October 2008. They endangered a male child less than 15 years old by possessing methamphetamine in the child’s presence, indictments allege.

Roderick Earl Baker is alleged to have possessed at least 4 grams but less than 400 grams of the controlled substance ecstacy and more than four ounes but no more than 5 pounds of marijuana in February.

Howard Weatherall Jr. and Katrena Gail Morris are each accused of delivering more than 1/4 ounce but no more than 5 pounds of marijuana to a man in December 2008.

Accused of fraudulent use or possession of identifying information and with trademark counterfeiting was Damon Dewayne Dugan. He is alleged in August 2008 to have had in his possession a man’s driver’s license and insurance card, and attempted to sale over the course of seven months an item valued at $20,000 to $100,000 with a counterfeit mark.

Kara Dawn Dunavin and Julie Renee Woodson were both charged with possession of more than four ounces but no more than 5 pounds of marijuana, Oct. 13, 2008. Woodson was also indicted for twice delivering more than 1/4-ounce but no more than 5 pounds of marijuana to a man within 1,000 feet of Austin Elementary School  on Oct. 8, 2008.

James Earl Whitmore was accused of unlawful possession of a firearm  by a felon.

Among those indicted on possession of marijuana charges were:

Teresa Deluna, at least 50 pounds but less than 200 pounds, June 2008

Lamonte Clifford Potts, more than 4 ounces but no more than 5 pounds, December 2008

Kendal A. Thomas, Staci Michelle Mays and Pierre Girard Geeter, each for more than 5 pounds but no more than 50 pounds, Jan. 18

Lance Allan Goodman, more than 5 pounds but no more than 50 pounds, December 2008

Kelly Nicole Armstrong and Angela Samantha Graff, more than 5 pounds but no more than 50 pounds, Dec. 8, 2008

Joe Robert Akers, more than 50 pounds but no more than 2,000 pound, December 2008

Three men —  Steven Glenn Newsome, David Saldivar and Bobby Gerald Brumfield — were   indicted on felony driving while intoxicated, third or more offense charges.

Among the others indicted for alleged controlled substances charges were:

Leroy Albert Flanagan Jr., delivery of less than 28 grams of hydrocodone to a man within 1,000 feet of the Boys & Girls Club on Dec. 4, 2008

William Palm Daehn, possession of less than one gram methamphetamine, Jan. 31

Steve Eddy Turner, possession of less than one gram methamphetamine, April 2008

Bruce Alan Bolton, possession of less than one gram cocaine, June 2008
