Sulphur Springs High School had four students place and two teams recognized for their accomplishments at the State Academic University Interscholastic League Meet last week in Austin.
Overall, the Wildcat UIL team amassed 40 points, earning SSHS 11th place overall out of 58 school competing.
“The UILers did very well at state. I am so proud of them!” gushed Gina Wilder, SSHS UIL coordinator.
Recognized for their individual achievements were Zach Mahand for placing second in spelling and vocabulary, Katy Mason fourth in headline writing, Courtne Anderson fifth in computer applications and Lyndsi Bible for placing sixth in spelling and vocabulary.
Mahand and Bible’s scores, coupled with those of team members Sarah Fox and Kelsey Brown, cinched a first place team ranking in spelling and vocabulary.
The current events team consisting of Cole Cable, Taylor Moore, Rosalynn Karstens also was recognized for placing third overall at the state meet, held at The University of Texas in Austin.
