With summertime fast approaching, it’s time once again for youngsters looking for a chance to get away for some fun in the sun to fill out applications for the Salvation Army’s Camp Hoblitzelle held each year in Midlothian.
Youngsters interested in participating in fun, adventure and fellowship through social and recreational activities should pick up an application at the Hopkins County Salvation Army Headquarters inside The Bait Shop at 1702 South Broadway St.
The one-week camp will run from July 6-11 for children ages 11 to 12 years old. Applications should be turned in by June 6, according to Hopkins County Salvation Army Chairman Jo Marie Neal.
Each year The Salvation Army gives hundreds of children, who would not otherwise have the opportunity, the chance to attend summer camp free of charge. This year they are hoping to send 8 to 10 boys and girls from Hopkins County to Camp Hoblitzelle, one of more than 50 Salvation Army camps across the country serving as a part of a worldwide Christian evangelical ministry.
Youths are encouraged to experience challenging new adventures such as canoeing, horseback riding, fishing, archery, hiking and crafts, as well as the opportunity to make new friends.
