The last few weeks of school are very hectic, not only for parents and students but also members of the school staffs and the community and the community who rush willy-nilly from place to place to support our area youths and their accomplishments.
Keeping track of all the events can be quite a chore. So, to help parents, family and friends stay on top of upcoming events, several local schools have shared that information with the News-Telegram. Below are those activities by school.
Graduation for Sulphur Springs High School students will be at 8 p.m. Saturday, May 23, at Hopkins County Regional Civic Center; graduation practice is tentatively set for 9 a.m. Saturday.

Sulphur Bluff school still has quite a few activities still to go. The annual FFA banquet begins at 6 p.m. Friday, May 22, in the school cafeteria. The annual senior trip is slated for May 29.
Graduates will be honored at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, May 31, with a baccalaureate service at Sulphur Bluff Baptist Church and commencement exercises June 5 in the new gym at the school. Graduation for pre-kindergarten students will be June 2.
An awards program will be held at 1 p.m. June 1 for high school students and at 2:30 p.m. June 1 for junior high stu; athletic awards will be presented at that time as well. Elementary UIL awards will be presented May 22, and elementary awards June 4.
Como-Pickton will hold a special sports extravaganza Saturday, May 23, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the athletic facilities.
Graduates will be honored at 7 p.m. Sunday, May 31, with a baccalaureate service at Pickton United Methodist Church and at 7:30 p.m. June 5 with high school graduation at Hopkins County Regional Civic Center. Eighth graders will be honored with graduation at 7 p.m. June 4 in the secondary cafeteria, followed by a dance. Kindergarten graduation will be at 8:30 a.m. June 3 in the secondary gym.
Elementary awards will be in the secondary cafeteria at 9:30 a.m. June 3.
Saltillo will hold a graduation service for its eighth graders at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 4, in the new gym at the school.
Seniors will be honored with a baccalaureate service at 6 p.m. Sunday, May 31, at Weaver Baptist Church as well as a graduation service at 8 p.m. Friday, June 4, in the new gym at the school.
Graduates of Yantis High School will be honored Sunday, June 5, with a commencement service at 7 p.m. at Lake Fork Baptist Church, located on FM 515. Michael Alphin, YHS teacher, will be the keynote speaker.
Graduation for pre-kindergarten students will be at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 28, in Yantis school cafeteria.
A baccalaureate service for North Hopkins students will begin at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, May 31, in the high school gym. Brian Brewer of First Baptist Church-Sulphur Springs will be the speaker. Seniors will present roses to their moms in a show of appreciation; a reception will follow the ceremony. Graduation practice for seniors will be at 11 a.m. Friday, June 5, and commencement will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 6 in the high school gym. Graduation will close with a candle-lighting ceremony, a tradition ongoing since the school was established.
Eighth graders will have graduation practice at 1 p.m., following the 12:30 p.m. class dismissal on June 4. Junior High graduation will begin at 7:30 p.m. Friday, June 5.
The UIL awards program begins at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, June 4. The high school awards program will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday June 2. Awards Programs for kindergarten through grade 3 begins at 8:15 a.m. Friday, June 5, grades 4-6 at 9:15 a.m.
Kindergarten graduation will begin at 6 p.m. Monday, June 1.
North Hopkins will also be holding a special reception Sunday, May 31, honoring Tommy Long, superintendent, on his retirement. Both he and Carolyn Long are retiring at the end of this school term. The event will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, May 31, in the school cafeteria. All alumni, and past and present parents, friends, board members, family and staff are invited.
Cumby High School graduation ceremony will begin at 7 p.m. June 5 in Cumby gymnasium, and the senior baccalaureate will be at 4 p.m. Sunday, May 31, at Cornerstone Baptist Church.
Cumby eighth grade graduation begins at 7 p.m. June 4 in the school cafeteria.
The annual academic banquet is slated for May 28, at 6 p.m. in the cafeteria.
Miller Grove Junior High and High School awards banquet is slated for May 26 and the annual End of the Year Stew will be May 30. Eighth grade graduation will be June 4 and high school graduation June 5.
