BATON ROUGE – Local Community Coffee Company representative Ben Allison recently delivered $452 to Lamar Elementary School for participating in the Community Cash for Schools™ program.
“For the past 20 years, the Cash for Schools program has given schools the opportunity to earn money for items such as new textbooks, computers, playground equipment, and even a natural bird sanctuary for a science class,” said Matt Saurage, president and fourth-generation family owner of Community Coffee Company.
Every year since 1989, Community Coffee Company has given money to participating schools in exchange for UPCs, or bar codes, from Community® brand products. Over the past 20 years, participating schools have earned more than $4 million through the program.
This year, in addition to the Cash for Schools program, Community Coffee Company invited all students in kindergarten through sixth grade to submit hand-drawn art for the front of Community Coffee Company’s 90th birthday card to help the company celebrate its 90th anniversary in April. Over 1,200 students throughout the Gulf Coast participated in the contest.
